This glass perfume bottle still has its original stopper and is housed in its shagreen travel case.
Shagreen is a type of rawhide made from the untanned skin of marine animals, most commonly stingrays or sharks, known for its distinctive pebbled or granular texture.
This naturally rough material was historically used on weapons for a better grip, and later became a luxurious covering for decorative objects and furniture due to its unique appearance, durability, and texture.
