This 18k rose gold ring band has a pretty pattern of ivy leaves that run continuously around the band. The inside inscription tells us it was originally worn as a wedding ring.
Ivy was often used as a motif in the 19th Century, since this tenacious plant was seen as a symbol of everlasting love, devotion, and loyalty.
The inside of the shank carries the inscription ‘Louise Maniguet Georges Cherouvrier 22 Janvier’. Parisian records show that George married Louise on the 22nd of January, 1900 – a wedding date that coincided with his 41st birthday!
